lol thanks. the gaunts I built out of the standard boba ROTJ templates and mod'd them to be more like the jango ones. I just changed the weapon accessories is all. LOL and the cod...omg the cod. do you know how many people I have had ask me to make that for them? I did it for comfort, but everybody seems to think it looks cool
yeah i was the first mando to incorporate them (as well as other things) when they first came out lol...yeah they work perfect because they add detail to the soft parts and hug your legs without feeling weird
original plates molded from high impact polystyrene and layered with fiberglass. we used to sell the styrene plates online, but our workshop is closed at the moment. the helmet is made from rotocast resins (a secret blend of chemicals actually for unbeatable strength) made by Zev, Frani, and Marcus of MDSB props. all the soft parts (flak, pants, flightsuit) and everything else is also home made. there are only a few accessories that you can buy in a store really.
if you want to learn how to build a kit with all kinds of techniques..hit up mandalorianmercs.org
thanks so much things are so much better looking when theyre custom and they tend to last longer too. but yea very nice looks a bit more modern too like the difference between a 1969 dodge challenger and the new ones. theres allot of attention to detail too. great job.
lol thanks. if you are interested in building..the people at that site are very VERY friendly and helpful and i guarantee any questions you have will be answered within the first 10 minutes of posting. the official costuming guidelines and CRLs help you make your costume approvable. Its a great first star wars costume to make because it gives you kind of creative freedom, and helps you learn a thing or 2 before tackling a beast like joining the 501st (which im also a part of so if you need help with that just let me know)
yes this is my character named crow. as im sure you have seen deathwatch characters, this is my take a mandalorian might look like from an organized tactical strike team. kind of like special opps in the mandalorian culture. most mandalorians you will see have what i call "overkill armor"...where there is just so much armor that they cant move freely on top of a baggy saggy jumpsuit. this design is the opposite of that. i started from the inside out with a nice form fitted outfit that i purchased certain pieces of and had to make custom.
but the over all design of the flightsuit and soft parts was taken from the sleek design found in a lot of futuristic swat team outfits from some movies. flexible and gives the armor mounted to it a more practical feel
